My friends and I went to Sheffield for a birthday celebration last week and knowing that one of the attendees will eat anything hot to get a reaction, I took along said Chili wrapped up in a plastic bag so as not to burn my bell through my jeans pocket.

I'd grown them successfully from seed and although yield was low (x3 fruits) they were absolute scorchers, and I mean HOT!

So there we were watching the England match in Walkabout (original I know!) when I opened the plastic bag and wafted it under my mate's nose. We gathered our group and watched him snatch it out of my hand and put the whole thing in his mouth, biting it off just before the stem.

He chewed, crunching through the red outer flesh, into the membrane (placenta) and through the seeds, releasing around 980,000 scoville units of heat into his mouth and down his throat. 20 seconds in, the reaction was plain to see; nostrils streaming, beads of sweat forming on his brow, panic to douse the oral pyrotechnics now in full swing on his palette! "Get me two pints of iced water" he demanded, in a husky, desperate voice. He was screwed!

Over the next 45 minutes he had three pints of water and a gin and tonic and finally it subsided to an acceptable level. What a laugh for everyone else, but he wouldn't do it again!

Here's a video of some other fool eating one on Youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NR7jvw9W-TQ

In my fridge atm is a jar of

after it was recommended by my local indian (bengali) takeaway. It is from the Bengal Naga pickle that the Dorset naga strain is derived.

You can buy jars of this from any indian food shop and it is one of the secret ingrediants which make currys from takeaways taste different to any you can buy ready-made from supermarket/get out of a jar etc.

TBH it isn't that hot, although I'm sure a fresh naga chilli is!!

Nice wind-up!

I'll have to get a jar. I also have a chili sauce named Dragon's Blood which has bhut jolokia in it, another ridiculous pepper.

Good stuff, and the heat is addictive!

On a camera, there is a ring used to focus the lens. Twist it until the image is sharp.
If your camera does not have that said focus ring, move the camera away from the object you are taking a photo of.

HTH

And I have to get a jar of that stuff!

Apparently full cream milk is the best liquid to counteract chili 'burn' as the fat locks to the receptors which are sending the 'hot, hot, hot' signals to the brain and calms them down. Probably not much chance of that in a Walkabout though....

water is about the worse thing you can drink as it opens the pores on the tongue and lets more of the hot stuff in and makes it worse.

Dragons blood is made with naga chilies, Ive got some too, but only the first ? 5cm3 has gone from the bottle.

Eye watering to say the least.

I couldn't be bothered to get off my backside to read the bottle but yes, you are right. It is indeed one of the best scorch-factors there is!
