Ok here's a moral dilemma for you. Prompted by a book I've just read.

Your in a bar, life's a bit bad at the moment (insert problem here: Sacked/Dumped/Terminally ill/slept with a tranny), man comes up behind you and slides an envelope across the counter with photo inside. Says he wants the person killed. You say you think he has the wrong person he says no I haven't, either we agree a deal or I'll be very displeased.

So how much money would be needed for you to do it? We aren't talking a hypothetical never get caught and killing a child molester/war criminal here, you would have to track the person, not know who they were or why they were being killed, plan the hit and do it and plan it well enough to get away with it (probably not that hard if there isn't a link back to you).

So come on how much?

Thousands?
Million or 2?
Risk being killed yourself?

I don't know how much - but if you get the name and number of a professional hitman, I would put that in my address book for future reference!

If he was offering a million or more I'd find the person, fake their death, claim the money and share it with the intended victim.

I wouldn't even consider actualy doing the job for a split second, for any amount of money.

£110K.

Where do I pick up the envelope.

Seriously though, what if you agree, open the envelope & it's a picture of somebody you know?

No amount of money is sufficient.

To put it in traditional terms murder is a mortal sin for which one goes to hell.

Realistically - if you're not a killer - then actually killing someone is going to ruin your mental health. Soldiers come back after combat - and some of them are seriously fked up - and they at least have a moral imperative to carry out their work. Killing for money would scar most people interally for the remainder of their days.

Surely this part would render any money negotiations impossible?

I wouldn't do it for any amount of money. However if it was my family for the person in the photo and they supplied whatever weapons I needed then I'd have to do it.

If you're not a killer you wouldn't be able to kill someone in cold blood in the first place smile

Semantics aside, that is correct but I'd go futher. I'd bet a large sweaty wad that nobody on this forum who actually replies, "Yeah, I'll do it for £xxxx" would be able to do the deed.

Honestly, if it was practical to investigate this, I'd bet £50K even odds that a "yes I'd do it" person picked at random from this forum wouldn't go through with it for their choosen sum even if the person was infront of them and they had immunity from prosecution.
