So, any tips for the above?

My memory has never been great, but lately it seems to be getting woefully bad.

Found myself at the top of my stairs this morning with absolutely no idea what I'd gone up there to do!

Do I need to eat more spinach? Take some kind of wonder-pill? Buy an MX-5?

Maybe it's normal, and something you're also all going through?

...and yes, maybe its GAIDS and I'll be dead tomorrow!

All tips and suggestions (and examples of how I'm not the only one) gratefully received...

Loads of memory boosting compounds on the market these days. Google around, Ginko is a mild memory booster.

Go and buy yourself a Nintendo DS and any one of the brain training games for it, worked wonders for me!

Got the same thing. Maybe its lack of sleep? More exercise?

Those are the options I am going with at the moment.

There is absolutely nothing you can do I'm afraid, Stupid people will console themselves that vitamins, supplements etc will help but that is really not true. Just keep it as active as possible to preserve what memory you have.

Buy Derren Brown's 'Tricks of the Mind' - there's a quality bit in there on memory.

I do stuff like that all the time. Find myself in a room without knowing why I'm there. Pick up a pen a just look at it, not knowing what I intended to write or why. Once I forgot my dad's name and I've left an estimated £1000 of jewelry in public toilets after washing my hands, including an £500 engagement ring.

Whilst I remember, here's a classic from a work colleague of mine... He went to Butlins with some friends. One night he phoned his wife and told her about some show that was occurring that evening and she said she wouldn't mind going along. Knowing that she wasn't allowed in to Butlins without being a guest they decided he'd smuggle her in in the boot of his car, which he did. Problem was he forgot she was in there so she spent the entire evening locked in the boot of his car whilst he went off and got pissed. The next day he took her home.

And the same guy (not really memory related but I'll run with it) once went to pick up his elderly mother at the station, taking his wife and father with him. Several minutes into the return journey, concerned that his mother was a bit quiet, he looked around and realised it wasn't his mother after all, but some random old woman who'd got into the car under the impression it was a taxi. On asking his father, who'd been sitting next to her, why he'd not noticed the woman wasn't his wife, he replied, "Well, I just thought she'd had her hair done."
