I remember seeing on Tomorrow's World or some show like that, a sort of pod where you lie in it. And it is sealed to be fully black, and soundproof, and you lie in some solution, so you don't feel any pressure on your back, and there are no smells etc.

A complete absence of any sensory input basically. What are they called? And where can I have a go in one?

Sensory Deprivation Tanks.

The solution is salt water, so you float.

There is a place called Floataria (in Newcastle at least) but i'm not sure if they are national. We've been a few times, and it's really good. You feel like you've just had 10 hours sleep when you come out. Just make sure you've got nothing important to do afterwards!!!

You feel So relaxed afterwards it's like being stoned. The one in Newcastle does hour long sessions, and they pass much faster than you think. You can fall asleep in them without drowning, as each one has so much salt in that you can't sink your head under. It's a very strange feeling, but worth it.

- Note - if you do go, make sure you havent shaved that morning otherwise your face will sting like a bd!

This is the place we go:
