Someone has asked me to draw their black collie dog, so I'd need to take a reference pic. The suns a bit glary at the moment so would indoors be better? I have a 300D, standard kit lens. What kind of settings, any general tips?

Because I have to draw from it, a good contrast and sharp definition would be good. I just reckon the dog isn't going to stay still, its a pretty exciteable young one haha. Any tips on getting a better photo much appreciated.

Thanks

Not tried it as a method to draw from, but I have a couple of black & white pics of our dogs, and these seem to show the definition of the colors and textures far more clearly than the standard colour pic.

Any help?
