Can anyone recomend some good roads around the midlands, specifically Worcester, area that i can get to know my Elise a little better with? All the roads i know around Worcester are that little bit too narrow and blind for me to feel safe even beggining to push it. I'm not talking about going crazy just some nice roads that can let me enjoy the cars awsome accleration and handling.

Having owned it for nearly a week now I can't believe how i ever lived without it. I got in my old car yesterday and it just didn't feel right without the engine screaming right behind me!

youre better off 'getting to know the car' on an airfield or track

www.carlimits.com is highly recommended for a day hooning around in your Lotus...i did a day with Andy within a few weeks of getting mine over 6 years ago, got addicted and ended up doing over ten days with him

you will be much more confident on and off the road, and learn hot to handle it in safety, so that you do feel confident on any road in it ...they ought to give a day away free to every new Elise owner smile

Are you kidding me?? you live in Worcester right,??? on your doorstep (and mine - I live in Cheltenham) are some of the best driving roads in the country.. thus:

Drive out of Worcester on London road. Then pick up B4084 all the way to Evesham. At Evesham pick up A44 and especially enjoy Fish Hill near Broadway tower, as there are a series of dual-carriageway hairpins up a cambered 30% hill (think mini-Stelvio), all with a 30mph limit which the bikers certainly ignore. Once on the top past broadway tower you have a choice - either take the right to Snowshill and blast around B-roads on the cotswold escarpment or carry on the A44 then take the A424 to stow and once there switchback on the B4077 all the way to tewkesbury, then pick up A38 to Worcester and home.

Or ignore that and drive west out of Worcester to Herefordshire, or the Forest of Dean. I bought my first Elise this summer and went out for a drive from Cheltenham, to end M50, then A438. A479 through Brecons then A40 back to Gloucestershire.

We are blessed with good driving roads around here and not many speed cameras so enjoy you Elise!!!

Yeah, knew that there were great roads around here but I havn't been up here long so havn't had a chance to really explore. Thanks for the advice. I will certainly give that a go soon.

I would love to do some track or airfield driving at some point but a the moment I can't really justify it. The Elise is my only car so couldn't really risk doing any damage to it or causing excessive wear.......for now!

Davey.... you're ten times more likely to damage the car, yourself and other people if you are exploring the limits of an elise and your talents on public roads.

Book yourself on a carlimits day where you can mess about to your hearts content at the worst that can happen is you'll run over a silly little cone.

Bogie there knows a few things about this subject.. its good advice!

Hmmm, the guy wants to take his car for a spin near Worcester and the reply is "Carlimits" which I believe is in Essex? Plus it's well over £100 a pop. Before I get flamed I agree a Carlimits day is the way forward but it's not always the immediate answer.

I realise that if I want to really push myself nad begin to feel what my car can do I have to do it off of public roads. Really would love to do that at some point but for the next few months at least it really isn't an option- maybe a good christmas present to ask for though xmas

Really I am just looking for a few new open roads that I can play on during the weekend where all the corners aren't blind. I'm just loving hearing the roar behind me and really feeling the road at the moment!

My parents live in Bromyard, and for me (mainly as I know the road very well) the A44 between Worcester and Bromyard is a great driving road, some lovely curves, quite wide roads and a few overtaking places.

Hi. I had maybe the best drive yet last week from my place (Bewdley, near Kidderminster) in and around Martley area, Shelsey villages and around. Just take a sat. nav. with you, follow your nose and set it to home once you're done...and lost!

PM me if you fancy meeting up.

Maybe it's because I live this side of the M5, but I would suggest you go West of your general location into the Welsh borders wink

HTH,

Nick
