Sold a hi fi seperates unit on Ebay for £300, despite my 5 year membership and 92 feedback, Ebay insisted on Paypal as the only payment method (2 lots of cash from me, how convenient for them!)
Once the payment arrived (10th Oct) they placed a block on withdrawing the funds to my bank, stating it was a high risk item (again, despite my reputation) and said the only way to lift was:
a) the buyer leaving positive feedback
b)21 days passing without a complaint/neg feedback
Although I got the item to the buyer Saturday, he only left positive feedback this morning at 0815
In the terms for this block, they state positive feedback will result in "immediate" removal of the block on the funds.
Despite a call to their customer service at 11am, payment still blocked
Absolutely f
king scandalous
Whilst I appreciate its buried in their T and C somewhere, is this lawful?
And is the whole "you must pay by paypal" s
t lawful - surely thats anti competitive?Absolutely steaming, f

I abide by the rules but state in the auction that by payment with paypal will result in the item only being delivered AFTER the money has been transferred to my bank by paypal, this can take up to 10 days (It neednt take 10 days thats a paypal thing)
the reason being Paypal withdrew a payment an ebayer had sent to me without any explanation , they in fact blamed me saying that i should of sent the item "signed for" instead of simply keeping proof of postage. It turned out the error was with paypal and not with the seller doing anything dodgy and they had frozen his account as well , of course holding onto any funds in the meantime
W$nkers!!

I've had this twice this week on items that I've recently sold and I don't understand why. I've got 100% feedback and am long term ebayer, but when I spoke to them they said it was a new policy and there's nothing they can do.
I've since had positive feedback this morning yet my cash is still blocked, seems to me it's an easy way to deposit loads of cash for an extra couple of days

This site (although biased) might be able to shed some more light on this.

I've just tried that link and my anti virus (AVG) has blocked it with the following messagehttp://paypalsucks.com/forums/showforum.php?fid=17

(did PM you but no response?)
Did you get your funds released?
I sent them an email via the website form and they sorted it in about 6 hours, claiming there is a problem with the release mechanism following positive feedback from the buyer (sure, its not just you trying it on to see show long you can hold on to the cash for then....right)
However had to email them again today
Pos feedback left yesterday morning on a sale, money not yet released (again)

I use a cunning plan. I have a ficticious e-mail to get me through the listing advert stage. Then when item has sold I just e mail the buyer insisting on a cheque. Once I tell them I refuse to pay the charges and there will be a longer delay , they are always happy to do so. It's a s
te system that does not protect the sellers at all.
I too have 100% feedback on 125 or so items so folks can see I'm genuine.
EBay is rubbish now, its been ruined. We need a new site that was how it used to be.

I called and got the excuse that it is rare and I also only have 90 feedback, had it been over 100 it wouldn't have happened. He also mentioned that the other reason to withold funds is due to goods being possibly fraudulant......I sold a bloody baby seat FFS! To be fair within 5 minutes my money had been released and I was happy with that conclusion.
I made the point that I think it's an easy way to deposit very large sums of money for an extra few days and there's nothing we can do about it.
However, having just had a look I still have a small amount on hold for another item which has + feedback, so another call is due!
