Awesome

I ordered 1&2 from Amazon and they arrived yesterday. AvP1 has some glitches on Vista which I'm currently looking for a workaround, but AvP2 works straight out of the box.

I'd forgotten just how twitchy these games make you...the motion sensor, the sudden noises / explosions...

I wonder if I'll grow a pair big enough to complete them this time!hehe

AvP is a brilliant game, one of the most atmospheric and scary games Ive played.

I hated it when the motion detector started going off, random pulse rifle fire ensued!

These were seriously good games - so atmospheric! I wonder what a modern version would be like.

Are they the older games? Just ask as Sierra are shutting/have shut the online servers for those.

I also loved the alien games, it was alien vs predator which made me purchase a Jaguar console!

The original AvP was pure awesome on a disc! One of very few games to make me proper nervous, that motion tracker has a lot to answer for.

Was so hard too, I only actually completed it as the Alien, couldn't get past level 3 or 4 as the marine, but I enjoyed playing that same section over and over! haha!

Quite looking forward to see how they do with the new Colonial Marines one. I've heard you can get your squad welding up the doors etc like in the films which could be a nice touch if pulled off well. I'll prob buy it even if it's just average, I love the aliens franchise smile

I found out my Alien Vs Predator game for a bit of nostalgia but it fails to start on Windows XP.

Has anyone got it working?

So did you complete this time or did the scary aliens get the better of you??

AvP was (and is) one of the scariest FPS games ever. It's graphically weak by comparison to modern stuff but its use of atmosphere was second to none. I reviewed some third party maps and mods for PC ZONE at the time and I'll never forget having to play with the light off so I could see clearly what was going on.... seriously nerve-wracking but quite brilliant.

I'm tempted to reinstall it and let my kids scare themselves silly now...

hehepaperbag

Actually I got distracted by a host of new Xbox games so haven't spent much time with them (and still couldn't get AvP1 working properly (2 seems less scary somehow...)
