No. walk away. that car has so much bad history off the track don't even think about it unless you have a good solicitor.
ETA before the vendor tries to hunt me down and kill my first born, it's an ex-Ian Moon car and owes a fortune to folks involved in the series...otherwise I'd of got it.

Why, unless its a dangerous car to drive, who cares abouts it off track history. At 2K its a bargain. At 2K I could tempt a mate of mine.

Quite, the name Ian Moon leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth who is involved with TVR's. Sadly that Tasmin will be forever tarnished with the history of it's previous owner, no matter how attractive it looks, and the thought of Thorpey sitting on you is not a pleasant idea!

Just a thought but why don't we all put £100 in the pot each and buy it for the series. the car then could be rented out per race non profit for an arrive and drive for persons considering entering the series in C.

just a thought and I am sure that there would be hurdles to overcome but!!

Are you saying the car or parts on it are stolen? Or that a person who once owned it still owes suppliers money?

If the former then I agree steer well clear. If the latter, and don't get me wrong, it's appalling, but I don't see how folk not buying it in any way helps the suppliers who are out of pocket? And in that case surely if it encourages another person to go racing, that's a good thing?

Given Ian Moon was sentenced for ringing crashed Cerberas http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/blackpoolnews/10... and speaking folks over the years, if it waddles like a duck, quacks like a duck and swims like a duck... It's a real shame, cos yes its a decent car looking at the photos, and a bargain price, maybe too much of a bargain.

I can't say £xxx is owed to Person A etc because as soon as the subject is broached the room generally goes quiet and tumbleweed flows.

I would think that the car doesnt owe money to anyone but the person who ordered the bits did. Frankly If I bought that car and anyone came up to me at a meeting asking for money I would tell them where to get off. Surely the car doesnt carry any liabilities unless the original chassis number and reg number are registered against a finance agreement of some sort.

Good idea about having a series car, but like JR touched on at the weekend. It would probably get wrecked and who would pay for fixing it etc.

I would hope someone buys it and we see it out.

I agree. Buying does not condone what has happened previously. Not buying it doesn't help anyone though.

The big problem with the communal rental scheme is who preps it, transports it, runs it and fixes it? For this sort of money someone interested in racing could buy it, try it and get out again if they didn't like it for very little outlay, without needing to rent.

I can't see why that car shouldn't be in the series, any disputes are with former owner, not the car itself surely? I can't imagine Richard at RT would want to prevent another car/driver entering the series .. and it's as cheap as they come (though didnt sell last time it was on ebay ..) .. but why would anyone not want that car in the series, that's just madness. Leave the history with teh people involved at the time, and don't stand in the way of another bum in seat.

The is a whole sorry saga behind that car, but at the day its hardly the cars fault.. The current owner isnt involved in the history of the car so title should be good.


It was originally built by thorpy for Ian moon, before ians business went down the stter, and he tried to pull out of everything.. and it all went tits up or everyone involved.

If your interested in the car ( and at 2k even just for spares its tempting) Just give thorpy a call for the lowdown on it and make your mind up.

It would be good to finally see that car out in a tvr race... to my knowledge its only ever done the birkett.
