Looking for a new challenge....
Discussion
I'm looking for a change of direction .....
My background :-
I was self-employed since the age of 13-14 until the age of 21, small scale to begin with and then slowly built my own Import/Export company, downscaling to take into account the amount of work I needed to put into uni. I am currently 23.
I graduated in 2006 with a Business Degree (additional modules in economics and international business) - First with honours
Searched for graduate jobs and was offered a position with a very large IT company as a Operations/Project Analyst, I was chucked into the deep end and survived - managing projects with high client visibility and lots of ad hoc last minute requests.
Having succeeded, I moved into more Project orientated work, again thrown into the deep end and managed/completed a number of high level projects.
I completed my Prince2 Practitioner and Itil Foundation certification early this year.
Then for the last few months I have been working in our business office to get a better view of the overall business model.
My main problem is deciding what to move onto, I have the entrepreneurial drive, I have a proven track record in Project Management and I have a real passion for international business and various forms of trading.
I am concerned that if I continue down the project management route, I am not going to be able to use my other skills. I would much rather have a job that incorporates my project management skills, but allows me to use my entrepreneurial drive, possibly with a bit/lot of international travel thrown into the mix with great development potential.
Having looked at strategy positions and positions that offer a mix of Operations and Project management, they all seem to be lacking the entrepreneurial element (i.e. something like purchasing insolvent companies, splitting the assets and re-selling for a profit, or running as a micro team to someone like Peter Jones)
I welcome your suggestions ....
