Ummm, perhaps because it takes her away from the aching drudgery, souless and vacuous existence of her own life with you, devoid of any meaning other than a warmed up meal of beans on toast and a warm beer on a friday evening. When all her being silently screams silently inside; 'take me Roger! do it now! make lurve to me'.

And you just sit on the internet bemoaning hers and your fate.

Damn it man, go back in that room, lay your Salami on the table and tell her to get down dirty with it.

It's the program to watch if you know you want to top yourself but you need convincing.

HTH

BTW it is banned in my house.

That's great advice, but you missed out the bit about the scallywag ragamuffins running riot around the tiny bedsit, warmed only by a single lightbulb whilst the creatures of the night howl loudly outside the door..........

My housemate watches all the soaps - Hollyoaks, Eastenders etc etc. Now and then I will watch them but the storylines are so easy you can pretty much fall in and out of watching them and still work out whats going on.

Anyway housemate once described it as a bit like "people watching" which is pretty much favourite past-time of most woman when we're out and about and hence probably why so many woman watch soaps.

As for me - I'd rather watch a good episode of Top Gear on Dave! Even better if its the one I'm in the background of!

I don't understand it. Relentlessly depressing programme depicting the worst aspects of human behaviour, why the hell would I voluntarily watch it?

Some lad on another thread bemoaned the fact that religious programmes were on a publically funded channel. Well I feel the same way about Eastenders, I hate the fact that part of the money I pay goes towards making this ste.

I remember working at a law firm in manchester where we had a secretary that would send flowers to Granada studios whenever there was a death or marriage in Coronation Street. Scary.

Actually, confession time. My wife watches Eastenders, and I sometimes take a long look at it. I have yet to work out why.
