Cordless Drill Recommendations
Discussion
So I need a new cordless drill.
Long story, but see my other thread,
Quite like the Makita range; the one I smashed up was Ingerssol Rand (I use it mostly for automotive stuff, but now I am SuperDIYman too).
Recommendations, please. It needs to have a good battery life, like the Milwaukees... (I think they have the Lithium-ION batteries which tend to last 'kin ages). I do use a Milwaukee tool which I have to say, is great; but are their drills any good?! It would be handy for ease of battery charging etc.

I have one of these, in fact we have 5 on our firm.

Does everything you will ever want and comes with three batteries. Great value too.
ETA. It is a little heavy to use over long periods, if your doing a lot of screwing....oh er missus!

The chuck fell apart after a few weeks, and SF replaced there and then.

say the battery lasts ages. But they are expensive........as are the
my preference De-Walt...I'd go for at least a 24V.
Slightly OT we had two De- Walt 110v's a 600w pistol and a larger
SDS stolen from a job recently. I think they just lifted the boxes
assuming they were 240v,s as they left the transformer behind.
So whatever, you choose watch where you leave it. They are too
expensive to lose these days.
I got this Bosch from Screwfix

My brother and dad both have the same drills which have received a fair bit of abuse over the last couple of years and they seem very good.
Two batteries, hammer, variable speed, nicely weighted, althought was 130 when I bought it. Makita looks a good deal though as well.

house, along with a lot of other materials overnight. Only because
the owner stated " everything will be fine ".
Unfortunately, he had all sorts of various people doing different
work in the house . Unbeknown to us, at the time.
So, we broke our own golden rule on this occasion. Lesson learned.
Personally, if it's offered to anyone " down the pub " it's
obvious it's stolen. And if anyone buys it, which I agree someone
will..... that just encourages it, imo.

Not only do you steal the victims money, you steal their ability to make money.
It all comes down to the battery really...as said Lithium Ion is best, but expensive to buy and replace. NiMh (Nickel metal hydride) is good for battery life (no memory effect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_effect ) V's cost. Avoid anything with Ni-cads in - they suffer from memory effect and don't last very long.
