Electric shower recommendation
Discussion
Anyone here know much about electric showers? seems to be one of those areas where there are not many reviews of products online (understandably)
Any experts here?
Budget of around 100-150 for a normal electric shower. In white or chrome (preferably)
Some guy recommended Aqualisa to me (but not sure if thats because he is an official reseller)
Any ideas?

I've been eyeing an Aqualisa Electic 10.5w which seems to fall around the 180 bracket. Would possibly strech to that if it was much better than a Mira or Trton...
Is yours a standard electric?
The plumber did say they were a doddle to fit - not sure if that is for his benefit or mine!
I notice that many Tritons have 2 knobs, one for temo and the other i presume for pressure where the Aqualisa only has one knob for temp, i assuem it pumps of out full all of the time?
edit - 150 for the cost of buying the shower, not the fitting!

It has 2 settings for pressure.
Used every day and it's not had any probs in 3 years.

- going for an electric as that was what we had before...
- to the poster with the father in the trade, does he run a shop/is a plumber or something?

Your best bet is to go down to your local trading estate plumbers merchant. Ask them to recommend a plumber who could come and have a look. Performance of the shower will be governed by the hot and cold water supplies available. Often costs more to get the right supplies rather than the actual shower installation. Also work on the old adage "the more you pay the better it will be".Any experts here?

e supply cable ? This shower is drawing about 46 Amps at full chat,
on a 230 Volt supply, new harmonised level is no longer 240V.
Or did he leave the supply at 6mm ?
Because we wouldn't !
Anything above 8.5 KW we uprate the supply......I personally
wouldn't be happy about pulling 46 AMPS through a 6mm cable.
From the 16th ed............I've not done 17th yet,
TABLE A1 ref method 1 ( clipped direct ) @ 70 C.
6MM............ 45 A
10MM............65 A
16MM............90 A
I've also got the 2391 inspection and testing cert, which all the
sparks are aware of. If your shower is wired in 6mm I'd be advising
you to speak to your local NICEIC guy to get it checked.

Triron are crap.
Mine had problems after 13 monthis (just outside warranty), Triton wanted 60% of the cost of the original shower for a simple part.
Luckily I managed to source the patr online for a fraction of the cost.
If you google them for reviews / comments / problems you will find there are a lot of people that are not impressed...

have........I knew it, someone would have to say otherwise !
Looks like the 4 year apprenticeship, HNC and D , 16th, and 2391
were all a total waste of time then ! As well as the 22 years in
equipment engineering !
Try pulling 46 amps through a 6mm cable and see how hot it gets.
And I disagree with your " only in use for short periods " assessment
as well.............I've seen my partners daughter
spend easily 45 minutes at a time in it.
