How do I meet a decent woman?

So at the age of 32 I'm back on the market.
With little in the way of a social life at the mo due to varying reasons too boring to divulge here, where is a good place to meet intelligent, attractive, solvent and single women?
None of my mates are into going out clubbing, and to be honest the sort of girls you meet in clubs aren't usually my choice of partner (too fat, too drunk, too up themselves etc), so if anyone's been in my situation, what did you do?
The only thing I can think of at the moment is taking up dance classes <hangs head in shame> and my brief forays with internet dating have been appalling.
So where have all the decent (single) women gone??

I suspect you'll regret those words. 
Sadly, there just aren't mile-long queues of nice, attractive, intelligent girls waiting to meet you. Hang your head in shame and get thee to a Salsa class. Inevitably, you'll meet a nice girl at work while you research it. But, that works too.

Well that's the thing - all of the few remaining mates I have in the area aren't that great to go on the pull with, so what do I do - head into town on my own?? No, I need ideas for ways to meet women without looking like a lone weirdo (although I am rapidly becoming one...)

I see you live in Bournemouth. I know what you mean about the clubs 
I'm not the most confident person when it comes to chatting to the ladies but I have found that if I don't go out of my way to be something I'm not and just act like me, then it works out better.... sometimes.
Most of the girls I spend time with I have met through work or college.

If you are confident, or can appear to be, then your chances are greatly improved. No one wants to be shackled to a moaning minnie. It's tough but true.
Any woman I've ever met in a bar has been a complete nut case.
I don't know if it's bars in general, the bars I go to, women in general, or women who like me, but something's clearly wrong with that scenario, so no more meeting women in bars for me. Unfortunately I don't know where else to meet them.
In conclusion, I can be of absolutely no help to you.
