Well done Colin, another well organised cruise and good weather this time as well.

It took me 3 hours to get home because of the jams.

Also the roads in Kent were very wet so it looks like there was some bad weather about.

I'll second that, I had a good day out too. What I thought was really good about the museum was that you could walk right up to the cars, peer in them, and smell those old oil aromas that gave the vehicles their individual certificate of authenticity.

Quite liked the MG/TVR prototype and did you see the old blue car at the back with the solid wheels and early EMTs on it ? 75 years of development and the difference in ride quality was probably zero !

I engaged my brain on the way home for once and took some back roads to avoid the queues in the usual places !

We enjoyed the Gaydon thing although didn't stay long. Went over to Santa Pod to see some drag racing. Saw a 5.75 run and lots of 6's and 7's. Great to watch. the bikes were staggeringly quick and as for the jet car!!! John and I now know why you don't stand behind it when it is in stage!!! Can't see, can't breathe and get covered in crap. The smoke is so thick that you miss the run!!! Amazing to see and hear though.

Most incredible run was VW with a VW engine doing a 9.90.

Think it has now encouraged me to do some RWYB next year. I now know that I probably wouldn't discgrace myself having seen some of the slower cars.

It was a strange day - the peace and quiet of Gaydon, a pleasant run across to the POD through country lanes and then the extremes of the drag racing and a three hour journey home.

Enjoyed the go-karting!!

The Aston Martin Group C racer and the DB4 GT Zagato did it for me.

Are you gonna do the RWYB at Santa Pod this coming Sunday Steve? The Basingstoke Posse is going to run their cars so why not join us. If you F@@k your motor it doesn't matter too much as you are about to strip it and it would give you a comparison time for when it is finished.

Did think about it but the top of the motor is coming off on Saturday. I could re-arrange but it is Mel's birthday ( SHHHH a big one! ) and I might be pushing my luck going to the Pod two weeks running, especially if I trash the car

You creep - I will tell her that you think she is 40.

Happy birthday to you though. What a great present - When is the day at Mallory? What cars will you get the chance to drive? Are they aware of your reputation and do you think that they will let you drive them?

You'll have a great time. Krenz got me something similar on my 30th and I really enjoyed it.

I also learnt some stuff as well.

Checked out the video krenz shot on the way to Gaydon yesterday. Not bad, got a bit with the Z06 and the Viper driving side by side and a good shot of the 368 from the side.

I'll get it up on the net at some point. Don't know when, I've got to get these work exams out the way first.
