159 Ti 2.4 Jtd Q4 Just ordered it today
Discussion
Just ordered my second 159 Ti 2.4Jtd but this time ive gone for the the Q4 system too.
My other one did 24k miles and didnt miss a beat once... so much for Alfa reliablity issues eh??
I even tracked it around Cadwell on a TVR day as i decided i was going to loose my Tuscan in the horrendous rain we had on that day back in May (had a few strange looks). The handling of the Alfa was superb with or without the electric aids on, so it will be fun to see how the Q4 system performs vs the front wheel drive version.
Can anyone comment on their experiences with the Q4 system on 159's and has anyone chipped a 2.4Jtd yet? if so tell me more!!
Regards

yes got a q4 sportwagon myself - very cool car (but biased obviously!)
i prefered the q4 over the 2wd as it has a rear bias and feels more natural from what i'm used to driving
you can even get it playful at the rear in the wet with traction / stability on - stangely understeery with it switched off!
'Once into the corners, however, the Q4 is very enjoyable. There's a healthy rear-bias to the Q4 set-up (43:57 front:rear), and although you won't be swinging the Labrador out by miles on the exit of every corner, there is a lovely, neutral balance, with the back end an ever-present part of proceedings. Hardly an ounce of power is ever lost to wheelspin either, although that does make you think it could cope with a bit more'. EVO magazine quote
very very quick on wet twisty roads - we are talking wrx sti / evo cornering dynamics(seriously!)
remap - not many people have gone this route due to warranty - most people worried about DPF issues / warranty however..... you need this ;-)

forgot to add - check the car for transmission 'shunt' - prop to centre diff wears - not drastic but anoying - warranty repair
oh and dont expect good fuel economy! 30 to 36 mpg max - but then again a 'sexy' gruff five pot with 210 bhp 300lb/ft aint going to give a 4x4 great economy....

Nice one!I really like the idea of the Q4 system. I've had enough of scrabbling about trying to get a fairly laggy 300lb ft down turning out of wet uphill junctions. And most junctions round here seem to be wet and uphill!
Sounds like a great car, and will look lovely in Ti spec.
Check out www.alfaowner.com - a great source of info and, IIRC a few of the guys have chipped their 2.4s.

Guy on AO remapped his 2.4 to 250bhp/376lbft!
Some impressive torque there.
Potential clutch issues though? Some impressive torque there.
standard car is 300lb/ft so not that big a difference - not that big a worry IMO
ask an mitsi evo owner how long a clutch lasts on their cars if they do a standing start..... er it doesnt - made of toffee
