So they've reneged on saying they'll cover their banks' international debts.

We should invade, right?

Whole country can't be worth much more than £1bn - we invade and then sell it to one of the Scandinavian countries or turn it (and its waters) into a sovereign fishery to breathe a bit of life back into our fishing industry and bring the price of fish and chips down.

Now that would be a vote winner!

We can't touch 'em, because Russia just bought it, all of it, they own their asses now.

However, did hear Brown say just now whilst he was on a train, that we will seize any Icelandic business assets in the UK.

yikes

yeah this is on skynews now. It's 'thought provoking' - we could seize and then hold a firesale of some major brands in the UK which the icelandics own or part-own. Would have thought that would go a long way to the shortfall....

Those Icelandics, they're terrorists apparently

How do Russia own Iceland? I'm not that bothered as I mostly go to Tesco to do my shopping.

I must admit I am plesantly suprised by this. I didn't think Brown and co. had the balls to do anything about it.

Yeah but, he'll probably get everybody behind him now and win the next election.

Had the balls to miss-use a law to suit an alternative agenda? They do it all the time.

I don't know what the rights and wrongs of this financial situation is, but I don't trust the people who are supposedly looking after our interest one little bit.

I'm struggling to think how they can legally put Iceland down as terrorists. Are they going to detain them for 28 days? What will they do after that, stick a chain out from the the top of Scotland and try and pull them into court?

I would say that a foreign state, which promises to govern and guarantee international investments, and which subsequently reneges and defaults on repayments is very much acting in an agressive and provocative manner.

I reckon plenty of the 300,000 UK citizens felt terrified after finding out they had lost their savings.
