Casually drying a drinking glass last night after washing it, hear a crack, then the blood begins to flow. The glass had broken and sliced a lovely deep cut over the top of my right index finger, near the knuckle.

Cue a trip to casualty and six nice stitches. My finger is lovely and sore today. The best bit of my trip was when I was having the local anaesthetic injections. The doctor somehow managed to push the needle right through my finger so the liquid was squirting out of the bottom and into the tray!!

Apparently i've just missed the tendon but have cut it's protective sheath. I'm being dosed up on penicillin!! It was a lovely clean cut though and I could see everything inside my finger when the bleeding slowed down!

Anyone else done anything like this recently?

Years ago, working in a pub, I took the bin out at the end of the night. I took the full liner out, and spun it around to tie it up. I broken bottle popped out and sliced through my forearm. Cue lots of blood.

Put one of the very shiny, very sharp kitchen knives in a bowl of dish water. Phone rang, dried hands, had conversation, came back ten minutes later and put hand in bowl. Felt something against my finger, thought "bks". Finger sliced down to bone, cue trip to A&E with hand held up high and wrapped in towel. A few stitches later I now no longer do stupid things like leave knives in bowls of water......

Once upon a time I was releasing our old dog from his chain. The clip on the chain was one of those that is like a squashed oval, with a spring loaded section that you push in. This section had a sharpish point. Next thing I know, the dog has moved and I've got most of the spring loaded section buried in my little finger (about 2 or 3cm).

I will admit I almost fained after I'd managed to pull it out. Think it was the shock. I've been (thankfully) pretty injury free in my life.

I once when sharpening a knife cut straight thru the tendon on top of my left thumb.

I had an operation to stitch the tendon back together but that was with a local anaesthetic so I had the pleasure of seeing them turn my thumb inside out which was delightful.

After the op I had to have my thumb in a cast which was to hold my thumb in such a position so as to put the least amount of strain on the tendon.

I spent 2 months walking around like this.

The piss taking was biblical.

Family, friends, work colleagues, strangers, policeman, old hags anyone who laid eyes on it couldn't resist having a pop.

Gits.

cosmos.

Dropped a carving knife onto my left index figure cutting through to the bone. Only an inch long but deep and bled like the black knight in Monty Python (after I pulled the knife out). Got to practice my first aid though biggrin
Dropped a pint glass that smashed on my bare foot - lovely cut across my little toe. Blood and glass everywhere. That was fun to clean up (hopping around) thumbup
Almost sliced off the tip of my finger (large lump of skin like a pez lid) whilst cooking.
This all in the last few months.

Hmm, I can beat that I reckon. The wife and kids were all staying in hospital overnight with a gastro-bug thing, so I spent the evening in the pub. Having closed the glass living room door I went to bed half cut, we never normally close that door. I also switched off the lights in the hallway, we never normally switch the lights in the hallway off. scratchchin

So, at about 2am I need to do the beer piss, get up, starkers, wander towards the hallway to go to the bathroom, and walk straight through that glass door, which shatters into millions of little pieces. As I start to realise what's happened I notice blood spraying around the room, so I look down yikes
Thank fk it was coming from my hand hehe

I then spent half the night in hospital getting stitched up and then had a plastercast put on my hand and arm after which I was told to go home (they wouldn't let me go upstairs to where the rest of my family were sleeping).

My wife called me a few hours later to come and pick them up, I had a bit of explaining to do biggrin

I am a baber and did a haircut outside of work hours so I took my scissors, being a knob I could not be bothered to put them in my caseso put them in my jacket pocket. My car was being serviced that day so when i lifted my knee to get out the scissors embedded themselves in my thigh and my jeans started to get wet with blood,I had to be helped out of the car and driven to A andE because I could not work the clutch.Best bit though was the nurse and Doctor laughing the whole time, trying to stop then bursting out laughing again!

I sliced a chunk out of the side of my finger with a torque wrench a couple of years back. Was very strange, I could see a fair amount of exposed bone and the muscles and tendons sliding over if but there was absolutely no blood. It still aches when it gets cold.
