Anyone else noticed how no-one seems particularly bothered about the polar ice cap meltdowns since the economic meltdown story took over? I thought we were all doomed unless we paid more taxes and drove G-Whizzes. The Greenies have gone quiet.

Was thinking about this the other day - the media have found something that they can really get their teeth into instead.

They also have the distinct advantage of actually having some control over what happens...

And when it is mentioned, it is now "Climate change", on account of it being bloody chilly lately.

Worrying about the environment is a luxury you can only afford once everyone has enough food, water and money.

It'll come back when they realise they need more taxes to pay for all these bail outs.

the planet has been hotter in the past, and life survived.

the death of the planet will come when the sun dies in a few billion years.

They had it on the BBC ‘news’, the other day, straight after news about UK impending economic collapse – spouting that the UK needs to cut its carbon emissions a lot more (complete with the usual Polar Bears and melting ice scenes), due to climate change being worse than worse than worse than previously thought. With this in mind, they said that even stricter controls and regs will be enforced to make UK companies (if there’s any left, that is!) comply!

I think the BBC needs a severe reboot to kick its @rse back into reality.

Yeah...I think if UK companies use more energy efficient light bulbs it should offset the increase in emissions from developing countries.

What a good plan.

Bravo BBC for keeping this on the agenda.

The BBC should be relieved that the UK is going into a recession. After all, low or no growth requires less energy and so will help mitigate the effects of their imaginary demon "Man Made Climate Change". rolleyes

There's a problem with money, nobody cares about melting the planet anymore.

Only the truly ignorant with over developed guilt complexes ever did.
