Does anybody know how to region free a dvd drive i have tried various software without any luck it would appear that the drive itself is locked but am no expert

Most of Pioneers drives are region free. Although you buy them locked there is a firmware patch you can apply to unlock them, you then use DVD Genie to reset it when you run out of region swapping allowance.

what make of drive is it? Often you can get cracked/hacked (delete as you prefer) firmwares which you can load on...

Just do a search in Google for your dvd drive and 'hack'.

To change the firmware you normally need to burn software on to a CD then place it in the dvd drive, wait a few minutes and presto....
