I am going to Cyprus on holiday soon for a week, and wondered what the best way to pay for things out there is:
- Take enough cash to cover everything
- Take minimal cash and pay for things out there with a credit card
- Take minimal cash and get cash out from a cash machine out there to pay for things
- Travellers cheques
- Something else?

Option 3 is the safest. I am going to Cyprus on holiday soon for a week, and wondered what the best way to pay for things out there is:

Get a Nationwide Flexaccount, http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-trav...
Cash for a few days & a Post Office travel money card.
You don't get charged for transactions or withdrawals when using it abroad- unless the currency you loaded the card with differs to the currency used in that country.
Make sure you load the card in Euros
I used one a few months ago in Majorca & it had no problems with it.

I came back from Cyprus a week ago, lovely place.
I just took 700 euros in cash and stuck it in the room safe, taking it out as needed. I did use an atm while I was there as well, but I'm not sure I got a decent rate from it.
Whatever you decide to do, take plenty with you, it's not the cheapest place. Prices were very similar to London.

I came back from Cyprus a week ago, lovely place - especially the cute men in swimming trunks. I quite fancy them, especially on holiday where what goes on tour stays on tour.

That was more or less what I did and I agree on the prices, sunny Paphos was no cheaper than eating or drinking in dull Cambs.I just took 700 euros in cash and stuck it in the room safe, taking it out as needed.
