Do I/ don't I continue with VW dealer service??
Discussion
Advice please. Corrado Storm due for 94k service. Has FVWSH from new but am beginning to think that a) too expensive now b) will it affect the price if and when I come to sell it if I discontinue with VW main dealer?
VW literally only do the service so I can get the log book stamped. If anything is flagged up it goes to a VW specialist for repairs. Will a potential buyer be put off if I no longer send it to VW?

I wouldn't be put off by a change to a specialist service at this stage in it's life!
I mean hell how many out there have gotten this far with the dealer's from new? Plus if it goes to a reputable indy the prospective buyer can rest assured you've had the cars best interest at heart and not taken it down the road to your local, or done it yourself to save on money.

There's plenty of very reputable independant dealers around, if you're London ish, there's Big Boys Toys in Thurrock, and I think the Phirm arfairly near to London, AMD are in Surrey as well. All well known in the VW scene and highly respected. I took my 93 112000 mile VR to VW as I used to get trade rates but they gave me a horrendous list of things that needed doing including timing chain, but 2 independant specialists said it was fine!

I don't have a problem with going somewhere else after the service is done and always do as I also find they seem to like wasting trees with the amount of 'advisables/ things wrong' with the car additional to the service.
I did have a great guy at J Tech who did any repairs required but he's now moved from Stratfield Saye to the other side of Reading - most inconsiderate

It was really to ask when I sell 'him' would potential buyers be put off if I stopped the VW service after 12 years.
