How slow is the PSN?

Well, after reading about the GT5:P update, I thought I'd dig the PS3 out of it's xbox-induced hiatus and see what the fuss was about... an hour and a half later, it had downloaded and I was playing - fair enough - it's a popular game.
Today, I downloaded Wipeout HD and that also took a good hour and a half - 1gb or thereabouts though, so fair enough, however the 360 can download 1gb in about 20 mins at full chat.
Just downloading the Pain update... 325mb and it's been chugging away for about 30 mins, this is on 20mbit cable...
PSN sucks - I remember why I put my ps3 to sleep
