Weekend away suggestions please!
Discussion
Hi lads and ladies,
I'm looking to have a nice weekend away with the Mrs at the end of the month. Where can we go that's a combintation of scenery, interesting sites and a nice hotel? Not more than £180-200 for 2 nights. Preferably within a 2 hour radius from central London. We were looking at Salisbury and Gloucester/Cheltenham - anyone got any views on these?
Oh, and hopefully some good driving roads in the area or on route to take the Tiv for a blast!
We've been to Bath a few times already and as much as we love it we'd like to go somewhere different, so anywhere similar would be nice.
Cheers for the help!

We stayed at the Rose & Crown in Brockenhurst this weekend just gone.
Rooms were lovely but food was pub rather than restaurant quality... we can't complain though as it was a free stay and the staff were brilliant
2 hours from Leighton Buzzard (A41 (to avoid the M1), M25, M3, M27) so you should be able to do it in about 2 hours...
The roads around the New Forest are good fun as well - long straights and sweeping bends.

I would suggest the Cotswolds - most of the B&B's do minimum of 2 night stays at weekends and can be anything from reasonable and comfy to quite chic and pricey.
Me and the OH stayed in Broadway near Evesham the other weekend whilst visiting friends and it was really nice. Unfortunately, the B&B we eventually ended up with was nice and comfy but a bit dreary decorative wise but the couple running it were fantastic. Most places around the Cotswolds have nice restaurants for a meal and little shops to browse around and are generally "quaint" as we heard a few people say.

I live in Cheltenham, and I can heartily recommend that you don't stay in Gloucester.!
There are plenty of nice hotels in Cheltenham - Queens, Hotel du Vin, The George. Cheltenham is a good base for exploring the Cotswolds as well. The Cotswolds countryside to the East of here is amazing.
