The Dollar/Sterling is now the same as 5yrs ago - I know this as it's when I moved out to Dubai and I'm seeing the same exchange rate for the Dirham which is Dollar pegged.

Sorry to say this but this is excellent news!

Yep - When I got here in 2000 it was 1.45 - been going down (from my point of view) ever since. I've been on the end of a around $2 to GBP shafting for quite a few years now, so I'm quite happy too !

As a person with a start up that's exporting to USA from China, I'm liking this too...

I am crying. Sitting here crying. I spoke to someone about this a number of months ago when the $=£0.52 ish. I said i think i'll take a punt of a couple of k's worth and see what happens (thinking about the US elections, etc.) They told me it was a bad move.

I should not have listened to them and should have trusted my instincts. Okay so i wouldn't exactly be sourcing my private jet but it would have paid for a damn good meal out for the Mrs and I, even at tourist fx rates.

I'm making it around a 16% increase in the last 6mths or so.

Going to start dripping money back to the UK soon as I think we're looking to get 1 or 2 properties in the UK next year (or whenever it looks most favourable).

If you're going on holiday to the U.S. then sure.

If you're trying to export your products to the U.S. then the lower it goes the better!

€/£ is looking healthier than it has for a while. Was up over 1.29 earlier today I think.

Difficult to draw conclusions with this much volatility. There seems to be an international competition for who has the most f'cked up banks.

Of course, if you are in the UK - but I'm assuming that those of us here that are pleased is because we deal/trade/get paid in Dollars or a currency pegged to the Dollar.

Been shorting a few pairs vs USD so... party

Grabbed about 250 pips on one pair earlier which is a bit unusual. Just dropped like a stone.

Didn't have the balls to hold over the weekend, mind.

Every day it's better for those of us who have to buy expensive antique Vauxhall bits from the UK!
