Hi folks, first post so excuse any cockups !

I was wondering, does anyone know if you can buy
the twin rear speaker setup (similar to that of
the one produced by tweeks in the US - www.tweeks.com/products.html) anywhere in
the UK ??

Cheers

Scott

I'm not sure, but autobahn (google search!) used to have a sister company called '9 Audio' or sommat, that specialised in Porsche-oriented audio stuff. Based in Oxford, so could be worth a call.

Found Autobahn but alas no audio site links.

Surprised nobody has said:-

1) Dump the standard factory speakers and get some Fozford Newgates, they're the only ones worth having.
2) Or...why bother with a radio, don't you want to listen to the engine?

Dubster - I found an old copy of 911 and Porsche World (1997!) and can confirm that 9 Audio were indeed a sister company of autofarm. They were doing a natty line in custom 911 doorpods (569 quid) and a custom 911 rear sub shelf (599 quid). Their number was 01865 331999, email info@autofarm.com.

They could have told you a bit more about where the sister company went, instead of denying everything!

Anyway, further options:

1) Call Hide and Fidelity, who do custom stuff for nice cars... internet site as follows:

www.birds.uk.com/hidefid/webpages/hidehome.htm

2) Try TechArt, who do speaker stuff for Porsches.

www.jmautos.com/main.htm

3) Ring a big Porsche dealer like AFN and speak to after sales. Porsche do a range of customer options (pink leather gear knobs, gold inlaid dashes, all that kind of crap) and they may have some hi-end audio options for Boxsters i.e. large speaker casings with harmon kardon stuff in etc.

Cheers

You star !

Thanks ever so much for your help.

I think the main reason I couldnt find any info, is that in your first post you said autobahn, and in your 2nd autofarm ... ?

I think I may try and import the US model, as it bolts perfectly into the wind deflector holder section behind the rear seats, comes with speaker covers, comes with 4 speakers and the proper wiring connections for the becker stereo and costs about £120.

But I will definitely check that lot out.

Thanks for all the help matey.

Oh shite - sorry, I am a member of a club called autobahnstormers, and always get autofarm and bahn mixed up! To cap it off I have done some work for a company called Audiobahn (american hi-fi stuff for cars), so have their name floating around in my head. Me being a nugget.

Still, Techart should be able to help, if no-one else.

Importing from US is not as problematic as it seems if they can ship here - but you get clobbered for import duty (VAT?), so remember to budget for it.

I am new, but I do always question the value of
"listen to the engine" type crap.

I do have a sense of humor, but when looking for help it just doesnt "tickle" me.

Try contacing either www.Prestige-Audio.co.uk or www.SQPlus.com as they have a lot of experience of high end hifi in high end motors!
Nice 996 in the SQ Plus installs section here http://195.8.166.165/htdocs/img/installs/InstallDetailsNew.asp?CarID=21
