There's a good friend of mine at work whose husband is not well at the moment - could be serious or could just be a big relief when the results come through.

They are both really great people though I've not met him very often, I'd like to give him some present that says I'm thinking of him (they have 3 young school age kids) but don't know what to give.

He's not a car sort of bloke so that rules out the obvious. Budget about £20 - ideas?

use the £20 in tesco, and cook them a home made dinner and invite them round, or offer to make it there.

will give wife a break, and an evening of your company where they have less time to dwell

I couldn't bring myself to buy one.

But I'd be quietly delighted if I ripped open the wrapping paper to reveal one of these:

Funny looking torch. Where's the 'ON' button? - I always have problems with that.

For the OP - I have absolutely no idea, other than that spending time with your friend and her husband is probably the best bet.
