As per the title really.

I am Best Man at a friends wedding tomorrow, speech nearly sorted (but I am a TERRIBLE public speaker!), but in the back of my mind I sort of think that there is some etiquette about who the best man has to thank.

Any help much appreciated! Thanks guys.

I thought the father of the bride did most of the thanking. You should say something nice about and then thank the bride. Just my take on it.

If I remember correctly, you're supposed to thank the parents of the bride.

and thank the groom for introducing you to those intersting eastern european girls in that bar he took you too that one time. Ask if where he was when he wandered off for a "cigarette" for half an hour....

You're only supposed to thank the chief bridesmaid for the bj that she'll give you later in the evening.

Bridesmaids? Even if you're not supposed to it's a good idea as you can get them squiffy later on and they're already thinking what a nice chap you are.

Ok I have had enough practice this year

Firstly you thank the Bridesmaides on behalf of the groom tell them that they look stunning etc then tell the bride how beautiful she looks

Then thank the ushers for doing a grand job

Thank the Groom for asking you to be best man
Funnies
Read some cards
Toast the bride and groom
Job done

Just about what I would have said although I think it's the Groom who thanks and toasts the Bridesmaids isn't it.

Personally I'd do the cards (where people who couldn't make it have sent messages) then the funnies/toast/jobdone.

Good luck anyway!

I thought it was the Best Man that said thank you on behalf of the bridesmaids, who by the way always look stunning apparently.

Groom toasts the bridesmaids and then the best man makes his speech on behalf of the supporting crew (i.e. the bridesmaids).

Google it, there's loads of wedding websites.

Bang on.

Groom thanks his wife for the jump he is about to receive later if he isn't too hammered. He then thanks the brides parents & the bridesmaids

Best man then replies on behalf of the bridesmaids & does his level best to ensure that the groom doesn't get his aforementioned jump by dragging as many dusty skeletons out of the closet as possible, despite being warned off a regaling a few stories.

Have you written a speech yet? It needs to be really funny. Yours will be the one everyone's looking forward to. Nervous yet?

Nervous now?

Id start off with what a fantastic day we have all had and say I had planned on giving x speech but having been on the stag do I (and throw your writte notes in the air) decided to rewrite it all.

Firstly that nude bar we went to - You do know wee were all kidding that you didnt have to get on stage and dance around with them in a sandwich fashion.

etcetc. You really have to nail him to the ground.
I fact I'd say one of the best ones I heard (I was p&ssed) there wasnt a single lol it was totally OTT and Im sure the groom & bride were furious.

You could go cheeky saying that it was nice that you decided to take your left overs (i.e. the bride) sure she's an ok lass etc.

Seriously though - if you have the kahunas do it but be prepared to lose a mate.
