Was watching Family Guy the other night and an advert for "To Catch a Predator" appeared on the break.
Apparently the show deals with the producers setting up potential paedophiles in an encounter with an underage girl or boy, and then question them on what they were planning to do.
What do you think ? Is this a dangerous step of the media attempting to take on the role of law?
Plus I always wondered why a man having sex with an underage girl is classed as a "paedophile" yet it's not the same case when reversed and a woman has sex with a young boy? e.g cases of female teachers having sex with schoolboys under the age of 16.

This show has been aired for quite some time here in the U.S. It is actually hysterical when the man gets caught. They lie so bad even though they know they are doomed. Some of them say things like, "I just wanted to drive 3 hours to make sure she was okay." or on the flip side some just blatantly give up and say, "Yeah im sick, I need help."
Some deny it even though the proof is overwhelming, first they'll say, "Oh wait a minute, this isnt my brothers house.' But its hysterical when you see their face when Chris Hanson comes walking into the room with his camera crew. The guy who went there for sex is like, "Who are you? You here to pummel the 14 year old too?" Or the guy will say he didnt know she was underage, and thats when Chris will pull out transcripts of their online messaging and read back the part where the guys is like, "So, how old are you? Because I dont date girls passed 15. I want to eat your little hairless box...." And they actually sit therre still and deny it LOL
All in all its good fun, but I suspect someone in the camera/news crew will get shot one day. It is very dangerous if you ask me.
And lastly, Chris talks to them and they open up to him like hes a psychiatrist or something, and then Chris says, "Okay, your free to walk out that door." but when they do leave they are pummeled by a group of police who tackle them.

well it's simple, no underage boy will be able to stop himself smiling as he's the luckiest lil git on earth!
To catch a predator is great entertainment, it's not the media doing the setups it's a child protective unit that the show has access to. All the pervs get arrested as soon as they leave the sting.
It's really quite funny, some of the excuses they try to come out with and then having to graphically discuss with two female officers what they meant in this certain chat log!!!

It is, but the overriding fact is quite a few cases like this go unreported. I knew a lad who was adament he had nailed one of the supply teachers when he was 14. I believed him too, he was a smooth b
