Sorry for the duplicate post in the Griffith forum.
What is the procedure for the rear brake test on a TVR - is it ok for them to go on the MOT rollers or is it road test only due to the LSD?

Dont see why not. How can it be any different than what happens when you put the car into idle and coast to a stop?

Because they spin up one wheel at a time to test the brakes with the other one stationary.

Usually the rollers test is to run one wheel at a time and have you apply the brakes. This is not good for the LSD and the LSD also means the results are distorted. The way to avoid these problems is to do a running test with a G meter.

OK - I wasn't aware it was mandatory, but I guess it is...just in case the rollers have a fault.

All stations will have one, just dont get given the line " need to take it round the block mate" a couple of yards and apply the brakes at low speed is enough to get the desired effect and reading

You can test TVR's on some brake testers. We have an ATL lane, which spins both rear wheels at the same time, stopping the chance of damaging the LSD. Hope this helps. Claire

Thats fine if readings can be taken from both wheels at the same time, its the indervidual testing rollers that are a problem,i have the same issues with my subaru and had to educate the tester the first time i needed a mot there

Just had my Cerb done, they used that accelerated down a road then emergency stop. Bloke and box almost through the windscreen ! Wow nothing wrong he exclaimed as he staggered out. A resounding pass.

This is what I thought and I got a very agressive tone from the station when I rang to clarify - no customer service nowadays. MOT tester himself is usually first class though so I will make sure I speak to him and not the reception guy when I take the car down!!!

No, exhaust all looks standard to me (only had the car a very short while but I have remoived manifolds and all 3 cats are in place and the silencer is original!) Why, did it sound that good in Hermitage the other day? (i actually went through the village again on Sunday too).
BTW, MOT was done using a meter and passed with flying coulours.

when the tester logs your car on it will tell him if he needs to use the rollers or the tapley on his check sheet, if he's not sure tapley anyway.

In an ideal world, yes.
My MOT tester stuck it on the rollers before I remembered that it could be a problem.

However when I SVA'd the Westfield the tester was a bit more clued up.

Mine used the Tapley in the end, and only for a short drive across the car park.
