...one of those mornings that you wish you'd never got up?

Heading into work, listening to the radio and next thing i know, there's a pop from the engine, big misfiring and lots of 'chuffing' noises from under the bonnet.

Got it pulled over, and lift the bonnet after shutting off sharpish... Low and behold there's a spark plug missing eekboxedin

God knows how it came out without loosing compression , car had been running fine right up till that point.

Thankfully I was only 5 mins run from the BMW Dealer and run across, parts dept were very helpful and got the right plug on the shelf, one spark plug later and back to the car, i screwed it in gingerly, praying the thread wasn't shot...

It wasn't! And one turn of the key after plugging everything back in and the old BMW lived to ride again! bounce

Be it i get into work 30 mins late.. thank god the Manager's away... boxedin

Mr OP. You had a near miss and now you are overjoyed as it was just a near miss!

Like when I was sure the missus was shafting the foreign gardener chap. What a relief when I saw the CCTV tapes that it was only my brother. No foreign blood in my line, matey! Fired the gardener anyway.

Did that with a Cortina about twenty years ago. Trouble was it was pitch dark so couldn't see a thing. Popped the bonnet and peered inside while my mate cranked the engine over.

So whatever charge the piston had managed to suck into the cylinder escaped through the plug hole, ignited as it passed the spark plug still attached to the ht lead and still earthed on the block or manifold and took my eyebrows off!!

Of course I also ended up with a sore head as I rattled it on the bonnet when I jumped away!!

Then I had a 5 mile walk along a pitch dark road with semi burned leaded petrol stinging my eyes.

That was a great night!

My days just seem to be getting worse and worse recently.

Some personal stuff happened.

Then some more personal stuff happened that's set me back on my plans.

Then my gym says they'll still bill me £30 for the month I'm not using the gym whilst my letter of resignation goes through, despite not having been due to lack of transport for the last month already.

Last night, the bus (as always) was late, and when it finally did arrive it broke down just up the road, so I had to catch the next bus which only stopped in my local town and had to walk home from there.

Some more personal stuff.

Wake up this morning, it's pissing it down so I take my brolley which gets blown inside out and breaks, so I have to sprint to the bus stop (and my clothes are still soaked).

Get into work today and file a holiday form for 1 day and a request to leave at 3pm next Wednesday - Both days relating to health issues; boss looks disapprovingly at me.

Sorry pal but my health comes before this boring job.

yikes

Bet that was 'interesting' to land when it's misfiring all over the place and not in the good way..

Certainly gets you focused on your training. And I did find myself sitting a couple of inches higher at the end.

i had one of those days on sunday. left london at 9pm and lost the exhaust on the first speedbump as the last of the welds gave up on the downpipe flange.

spent an hour underneath the car effing and blinding before making sure the link pipe wasn't dragging and driving the 200miles home with earplugs in!

had to leave work early to fix it on monday, which didn't go down at all well as i took friday sick.

the last 2 days haven't been great either. having to oversee some product trials which kept getting delayed. was in work 4am-5pm yesterday then back 2am-5am this morning, and back again at 9pm.

absolutely knackered and need a chat with the boss re: a payrise later. funfunfun!

that happened to me about 6 weeks ago. unfortunately mine took all the threads with it. the car was off the road for a month before i found a place that could heli-coil it without having to take the engine apart!

Digger.

Just for clarity, your brother was shagging the foreign gardener chappy, or she was shagging your brother? These things are important round here.

It could well have been the gardener, come to think of it.

The other figure on the tape was dressed head to toe in a binbag, with a crown of feathers. So I am not sure.

Good job fired him anyway. I wont have Mustafa gayying my innocent family rage
