I am having some 'issues' with my sunshine roof... After several months of hunting I have most of the parts of the roof...

Four bent aluminium extrusions to form the frame of the opening and one slidy bit with locking handle....

I am however missing the outside bit....

For a start I cant figure out how on earth the top bit actually fits in place onto the slider arangement and seals the roof. If I could get my head around how it is supposed to work, I might be able to create something that will work.

I am seriously toying with the idea of getting a piece of polycarbonate bent to fit in the hole and bond it in place using an aluminum frame....Would be so much simpler!

Can anyone help figure this one out?...Its driving me nuts!

Your on the right track tegwin except you can get a pre formed GRP panel to bond into your roof and hey presto no awkward ill fitting drafty insecure sunroof anymore

I have a sunroof in the garage which I am going to re-cover and replace my existing one. Would you like me to photograph all the bits so you can see how it goes?

Heightswitch....I cant easily do that because the shell has just been painted...would have made so much sence to bond in a fibreglass pannel before the car was painted, but sadly this was not done!

Threespins, I would be really greatful if you could send me as many photos as you have of the roof assembly :-) tegwin at msn dot com

Don't do the polycarbonate idea, it will look st... no.... it DOES look st as I tried that as a temporary fix. That rusty panel is the front piece that is inserted in the vinyl and then screwed to the slider (with 2 screws through the slider into the rusty piece?). The rear panel was too corroded to salvage. That rear piece would bolt down through the roof - the bolts were welded to the panel and the nuts tightened from within the cabin. There's a guy been mentioned on here, can't remember his name, who retrims the sunroofs and I've heard can make the front and back sections that fit inside the vinyl cover.

Anyone know who the gentleman in question is?....That may be the solution to my problem!

Thanks Kaneit...For the advice, and the pieces of the jigsaw smile

Thanks.

I spoke to Peter Harvey... He reckons £270 for just the two top insert panels and the fabric cover.... ... ouch!

Sadly thats not going to happen this decade!...

But if anyone has any photos of the parts of the roof, I would be tempted to have a go at producing one myself...
