Audi S5 engine lettering (Branding)

[iluvmercs]

As I'm sure you guys can tell from my username, I'm not usually found in these parts of PH. But I recently test drove an Audi S5.
A cracking car, and has given me some serious trouble, as I merely assumed I would go for another Merc next.

But, to the main point of my thread. I noticed on the engine cover "4.2 FSI".
I've seen "FSI" badges on other Audis and VWs, but what do those three letters actually stand for?

Many thanks,

Darren

FSI: Fuel Stratified Injection (or Fuel Stratified-charge injection to be precise)
