I can't believe I am saying this... If you are suggesting that Nationwide is the next to go down, I think you are being a little irresponsible. I'm all up for a bit of fun, but what is going on now in the markets is really looking like bullying by the Hedge funds. Picking off the weakest kids one by one until they crumble running off to Mummy. Now that B&B has been Nationalised (or whatever) It would be a terrible shame if the bullies all start on Nationwide, or whoever else.

but shouldnt nationwide be nice and resistant due to thier building society status, i.e not a bank, no shareholders (just members) etc. etc.

No, we are pretty bouyant as our operating model basically is to lend out our own cash, not cash we have to borrow from other banks. We're also too big to pull down now I think, we have no shareholders for a start and are busy ourselves in gobbling up all the smaller mutuals, anyone on here used to work for Cheshire or Derbyshire? laugh

But they have just announced the outsourcing of their entire Desktops service, of which I am a part, and keep coming out with this insulting, patronising, management-speak bks about it "being a journey together" and that we are important to them. Are we fk as like, they'll keep us on if the numbers work, if not, it'll be thanks very much, now fk off. I am not naive enough or sensitive enough that this in itself bothers me, it's business, but management, please don't insult our intelligence by pretending you care.

The original images (now blocked due to direct linking) showed a picture of a nationwide branch with witty comments about "we are all on a journey... to the job centre" etc...

Perhaps I and other missed the point and it was supposed to just be a generic highstreet bank, not specifically nationwide...
