McMillionaire returns to work..

""To be honest, there's only so much relaxing you can do. I'm only young and a bit of hard work never did anyone any harm," he said."
I like this chap's attitude. Nice to see someone happy doing what they do (no matter what some may think of the work).
Better than spaffing the money up the wall for a couple of years and being left with nothing.

For some reason I thought, "Good for you, chap!" when I read it. He has my respect.

Despite what we may think about the choice of job, I'm impressed with his attitude. Some of you seem to have missed my point.
I'd far rather have people like him the world doing what makes them happy and with a positive work ethic than the 1m or so dole-spongers we currently do.
If I read the article correctly it has bugger all to do with work ethic and everything to do with him being bored at home. I also suspect his wife is desperate to get him out of the house.I'd far rather have people like him the world doing what makes them happy and with a positive work ethic than the 1m or so dole-spongers we currently do.

Absobloodylutely. Not everyone aspires to a big wage, massive mortgage and long hours. As long as he is happy, contributing and paying his bills good on him.BigLepton said:

Fine, let him piss the money up the wall, go on the dole and sponge off the State. You can all complain about that too.

k it.Then again, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised. I just thought somewhere inbetween the gloom and doom that so often permeates this forum, I'd post something nice. Never mind, whinge away. It obviously makes you happier about your life.

I pity him, he's become so institutionalised by work when he's given his freedom he can't take it.
.....Do not pity him my friend, the lotto has no soul or redeeming features that allow its winners to be picked by merit of human nature, only the correct selection of numbers is needed, when the question of "wot would you do with a decent lotto win" is asked of me i just say wotever i wonted! All though after a few beers last night dreaming about winning the 100 million i did surmise that with that kind of money life would become a little pointless and begin to have no meaning unless you take control and go to work! I've bought the cars, the houses, the boat, the toys, then one rainy tuesday afternoon i wake up after 2 years of playing only to find my friends at work and normal life that i left goes on. The day you stop enjoying the weekends is the day you need a job so fair play to the guy

k it.But I do think this guy is a bit rubbish going back to work at McDonalds, but if it's what he wants to then all power to him.
I think people are being negative here because if any of us had the money and were bored we would probably start our own niche small business or something to while the days away.

To think what you could do with that money. Do people have no ambition any more?
He is obviously from the brain dead ingrained section of the working classes, where they know nothing more than Coronation street, work, the 'local' and the working mens social club on a Saturday night. I once worked with such plebs, in the 70's, who could not imagine what you would possibly spend a large Pools win on, once you'd paid off the mortgage and bought 'a decent new car'.

Personally I pity his breathtaking lack of ambition and imagination, but I suppose at least he's at one with his very low expectations.
Spot on. Fair enough he can do what he wants but of all the worthwhile meaningful things you could do if you didn't have to worry money he chose that! Gassing Station | The Pie & Piston Archive | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
