Scary houses

After just reading through the Ghost films thread it reminded me of when I drove through the states of america. And the scary houses that dot the empty roads every now and then. And the fear of what happens if the car breaks down.

Just wondered if anyone has broken down or had to stop for some reason and knock on a scary houses door. Or if you have been stuck in the middle of nowhere at night and had to walk past a scary house or abandoned warehouse and the like.

I don't think there are many roads here in the UK that don't have some traffic of some sort on (Scotland maybe?).
