So ive decided im going to get a 40D right.....
Discussion
Im getting the new body around christmas time.
However im looking to get a better lense as a walk about to complement the body. (currently kit lense on 300D)
So my question is with my budget i can afford to get either
- 40D with 17-85 IS bundell £700ish
- 40D with Slighty used ebay buy 17-40L series which would be 28-70 on cropped body £800ish
I tend to shoot abit of anything from landscape to portraits and cars for personal use, print the odd picture for friends and family and for sticking on the internet.
I know that the L series are the cream of the crop but for the price it seems abit of a no brainer to go with the L instead of the IS? or is this me just wanting to showboat!
Cheers

Would seriously consider one of the faster lenses - probably the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 EX. EX build quality far better than normal Canon (though not L), fast and sharp. 'bout £840 all in. I'd personally far rather have a fast lens that I can get creamy out of focus backgrounds with, than a slow bit of consumer glass with IS to fix everything.
