McNish leaves Renault - off to Jordan ?
Discussion
rumours have been circulating for a while that either (or both) Heidfeld and McNish may join Jordan next year.
Well this just came thru my mailbox from Allan's site
Earlier today the Mild Seven Renault F1 team announced their appointment of Franck Montagny as the team's third driver for the 2004 season.
Allan McNish said: "I've had a fantastic year with Renault F1 and would like to extend my thanks to all the team for their hard work and support during the thousands of miles I've completed this season testing the R23. I'm obviously disappointed that I won't be with the team next year, particularly having seen the results of all our hard work with Fernando's first win in Hungary, but I wish Alonso, Jarno, Franck, Flavio and the whole team the very best of luck for the future."
"I am in the fortunate position of having a number of options open to me and my management team and I are assessing which path to take at the moment. I don't want to rush into anything but I am more determined than ever to succeed, and ultimately I will make the choice that gives me the best chance of success."
Flavio Briatore, Team Managing Director of the Mild Seven Renault F1 team, commented: "We want to thank Allan McNish, who has done an outstanding job for us this year, and made a key contribution to our success. His work in the 'Heathrow' test sessions has been invaluable, and we hope that his achievements this year will propel him to greater things."
Hopefully he'll get a drive, he was well and truely shafted by Toyota last year and there lack of performance (although improved recentley) shows that the car/tem is the prob and not the driver combo, well IMHO

Good luck to him, he's one of my more favoured drivers on the F1 circuit and seems to be willing to talk (tho that might be via contract).
I don't think he's worried about getting a drive/better test role for next year - if he's done that good job at Renault why leave unless you're going to something else?

Think about it....Massa's off to Sauber, there's a gap there...and McNish has invaluble Michelin knowledge...
