A friend of mine went to Kempton bike jumble the other day and bought one for £5 but I didn't know there where two types of magneto. I was hoping to save a few ££££££ and avoid the scrap dealers.

I will see how things go and if need be I will pay the £35 there asking. Had to post hear on the forum as If you don't ask you don't get

Try www.bartonmotors.co.uk/

Used to have an AR80 in the dim mists of time, which I fitted with a 125 engine. Seemed bloody fast at the age of 17!!!

Has 'what was your first bike?' been done on here?

Being a relative newbie - I can't be arsed to trawl back through the site.

As for bits for that bike - crikey - good luck mate!

Great idea! Mine was a white Honda MB5, complete with bikini fairing, which I bought on my 16th birthday in 1984.

Only lasted a few months. It was written off by a neighbour's Cocker Spaniel, which shot out of their driveway in front of me (thus becoming my first accident!). It was replaced by the AR80, which I put 50cc stickers on (naughty, naughty)...

Mine was a 1990 Suzuki TS50X with Gianelli front pipe, DEP Sport silencer, Boyesen Power Reeds, Autissa big bore kit to 65cc over bored to 68cc, jacked up rear suspension and Acerbis front mudguard. Whipped every other 50 in the land. Beaut!! Managed 68mph out of it up against my mates 1.0l Fiesta 'Festival'. Them's the Days. Next I got a Yamaha YSR50. It was about the size of a paddock bike (not that much bigger than a minimoto) It was a US import bought from Windsor motorcycles in Aldershot. It was done in Durex racing colours and went about 55mph. The pegs used to scrape round every bend. I dropped it down Camberley high street in front of some girlies by misjudging a tar strip in the wet. I used to get stopped by the police just to see what the damn thing was!

Eeeer my 1st apart from my 50 which i wont mention, was a Suzuki CG125 I wrote that off 2 weeks after having turnrd 17 coming back from the pub ( of couse i had only orange juice and was under the control of a group of responsible adults.....on gsxr1100s bimotas FZRs etc !! ) Clearly i couldn't handle my 'orange juice' and had a head on with a Astra around a blind corner. I thought the white lines were guidence ?! Harsh leson learned. Managed to straighten bike too whay hey!

My fist bike was an ital jet 50cc but I got my dad to get me a new one two days after boxing day as it was much slower than my mates 50cc putch magnum and I wouldnt have that little squirt beating me, so my dad bought me a a putch just like his.

Lucky I was only a young kid at the time....my god my sister was right I was a spoilt brat.....dammit.

Ive had lots of other bikes since then, everything from a DT125 to a XT 600. But my first actual road bike is this AR125 im driving now.

God I cant wait to get my bandit.....come on savings mount up quicker.

I'm going to punt my ar125 its a 95 plate in not bad condition. What should i sell it for do you think?

MOT 1 year
Taxed 1 year
New chain and sprocket
needs a paint job but no rust that i can see.

Someone offered me 140 for it the other day but I thought that was a little to low. what do you guys think?

sorry for hijacking your post alpine.

NineBarz, thanks for thought mate but the AR125 has gone, traded it in 3 months ago with my GPZ600r for a 2001 Suzuki Bandit 600 S. Also sold both my Yamaha 250E's and my Yamaha 350LC (4L0) too Down to one bike now but I'm still smiling as I can ride this one, and ride it I do (but not tonight, bloody raining )

bu5t4, I got £350 trade in for the AR and it was in great condition, sadly once a bike is past it's best people don't want to pay any money for them. But I would think with 1 yrs tax and MOT plus chain and sprocket's you would get a bit more than £140?

Cheers
Alex
