As the search facility is still down thought I'd throw open a question to the floor.
Recently discovered a smallish oil leak from my diff and sometimes a mild clunck when pulling away, not overly worried just yet but getting some prices together for re-conditioning or replacing would seem like a good idea so:
1) has anyone had a similar problem and
2) advice on a good repairer would be helpful as I believe it is a fairly specialist job.

I nearly had a rebuild on a diff which didn't need it!!

After the third visit to a now defunct TVR Dealer, it was found the diff securing bolts were just slack, giving the same clunk when pulling away.

Just a thought, but worth checking first before you commit to splashing your cash.

Perhaps you have already checked these.

Same thing happened to mine when it was just a couple of years old. Just a single clunk when pulling away. Mentioned it to the dealer when it was serviced and they suggested that it would probably be a new diff, but it never happened again after that service, so maybe it was just loose nuts/bolts that they tightened as a matter of course ?!?!

As already said, worth checking first before a re-build ?!

Thanks eggy, but I should have said someone in the south-east.

I was thinking it could be loose fixings making the noise as well until seeing the oil slick over the diff housing and exhaust.
