Its not doing too badly atm, but it is starting to slow down

Best thing to do atm is split all those images up into different pages (if he's on and listening). That way, the whole lot isn't being downloaded by everybody in their first hit.

Same happened with 'stumble' a while back.

thinking about it - want to offload some of the images on to one of my servers?

Would take the load off your server.

Then you can just upload some of the images to my server and link to them from your page.

Yeah, like 2-3 dedicated servers with load balancing

Nah, you wouldn't need that much for just a static site - 1 for html and some images, 1 for the other images.

Also, bearing in mind - there is no way of knowing how many other sites are on the same server.

Completely normal, StumbleUpon serves up previously recommended pages to its users - people are coming from browser based applications, rather than webpages (although there are always exceptions).

I got an extra 2000+ hits yesterday (over the norm)... site didn't crash - just.

And about 40 e mails from our nice American friends telling me they are going to visit.
