Same actor, wildly different role

Michael Caine was very convincing as the posh infantry officer in 'Zulu', then as the much less posh Charlie Croker in the 'Italian Job'. Quite a contrast there, but surely not as much as the contrast when Anthony Hopkins went from playing the insane Hannibal Lecter in 'Silence of the Lambs' to the very dignified and repressed butler Mr Stephens in 'Remains of the Day'. Brilliant in both roles, of course.
Anybody think of any other examples?

Most diverse? Don't know, but Depp stands out - WillyWonka, EdwardScissorhands, JackSparrow, SweeneyTodd, Ed Wood.
But I have to say I really like Robert Carlyle's diversity - a scouse hooligan in Cracker, an MS sufferer(?) in Go Now, Trainspotting, Plunket & McClane, Doctor Who, HamishMctittingBeth, 51st State, The Full Monty, and on and on and on. Brilliant. Or perhaps briwiunt.
