got a call from the travel agent a couple of weeks back as our flights for an upcoming holiday to rhodes [3 wks away] were supposed to be with xl.
they said they would know what is happening by monday last week, but still can't give me an answer today and its likely it'll be the end of next week before they do know.
the agent said that if they have to cancel i will get my money back, but they also freely admit that if i need to rebook somewhere else then it will cost at least double what we paid due to prices rocketing in the aftermath of xl collapsing.
is there anything i can do about this or would i have to simply suck it up and pay or face a wet weekend in wales and a severely pissed off OH?
just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and managed to wangle a discount or other gesture of goodwill from a tour operator?
i did enquire whether i could cancel and rebook myself so we definitely know we're going somewhere, but i would lose all money paid out so far.
not liking this at all as if they cancel on me i have airport hotels, parking and foreign car hire to cancel as well

because its only the flights that were with xl, not the whole holiday.
the agency is trying to sort alternative flights. they have pulled most of their greek bookings for the remainder of the year but are still having a lot of success with rhodes and cyprus.
no need to contact the bank as my money went nowhere near xl and will be getting 100% refund if the agent cancels on me. it just won't be anywhere near enough to cover an alternate holiday.
