Absolute tragedy. I have been in that Hotel so many times. Everyone seems to blame Pakistan for a lot of the acts around the world. The Pakistani people are the greater victims of terrorism - I hope this is enough of a hit on the country that the people stand up and begin to collectively confront those clerics that don't denounce these attacks. Those that are behind the negativity are the minority that have come over from the Afghan conflicts since the 80's. The majority are suffering, and need to fight back.

The west are always quick to complain that Pakistan isn't doing enough. It's doing more than any other nation and the people are suffering a lot more.

yes, but the West likes to think of itself as the main victim, not other people.

Is it not the holy month of Ramadhan at this time, compunded by the fact that Muslims are supposed not to kill others, especially Islamic brothers/sisters AND that suicide is prohibited - I just do not get it?

I had a shudder run down my spine, as have stayed at that hotel in the past. There but by the grace of God..........

Recent reports suggest the death toll is at least 52.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/09/20/pakist...

With guests and workers still trapped it will be a miracle if that stays below three figures. Here's hoping they can get the remaining people out.

Well if you believe some, then they are suffering at the hands of the Pakistani Government who cause these so called religiously motivated suicide bombings themselves for their own political means. ie to gather support for unpopular actions against citizens of the country or to divert attention from unpopular actions and their own shortcomings.

Others will say that they are suffering at the hands of the west who are using the Pakistani Government to cause these bombings to justify unpopular actions against citizens of the country.

In recent years, many goverments have benefitted from atrocities on their soil and it would seem that, judging by the uproar that this bombing has caused, this incident will be used to maximum benefit by those responsible, whoever they may be.

The truth, as always, lies somewhere in between what we are told and what we can see for ourselves.

Very sad. Why cant people live in peace? Hopefully the US will throw its resources at Pakistan in an attempt to extirpate this terrorist threat. Freedom must be protected. If so, then hopefully the Pakistani public will get behind the American freedom fighters and not blast them with kalashnikov's whenever they illegally enter Pakistan. Im off for some freedom fries.

You are right in what you said. I have always been disturbed by what the suicide bombers must be told when they are brainwashed into committing such horrific acts. It is totally against anything that Islam teaches and therefore the act itself is enough to discount these people from being considered Muslims.

The whole of Pakistani society has been turned upside down by the recent spate of bombings and the people of Pakistan are most defenitely not behind people who commit these acts. Regardless of what the media try to lead us to believe.

Ever considered the perperators are not actually acting on religious conviction, but following their own political/personal agenda using the religious angle as their justification? Or perhaps religeon has messed their head up, something thats hardly limited to Islam.
I would imagine most of the victims of terrorism in Pakistan are muslims.
