Brands Hatch - what's it like ?
Discussion
Hi,
I've got some free entrance tickets to get into Brands Hatch this coming weekend - thought I'd pop along on the Sunday and see the racing. I haven't been before - what's the form - is it turn up and find some nice bank on a corner somewhere to watch the cars go by ? How busy does it get ? If the weather is going to be good I was thinking of bringing my 15 month old daughter - is this wise ?
Cheers,
Andy.

It's very good.
The TVRs usually head for SouthBank where I believe we have TVR parking.
No problem to bring your daughter if she is into race cars....
Might want to bring a picnic and some chairs..........I can always give you a flag to wave as you're from Mid essex!!!!!
There is a post up on Gen Stuff & Goss about the Mid Essex convoy....

Thanks. I don't know whether she's into racing yet . She did think it funny the other week whilst she was watching me drive a Cosworth rally car sideways round the rally circuit at Oulton park, and she did burst into tears the first time she saw a Cayenne, so there's hope!
I'll see if I can join the convoy - I may have to lurk at the back if I'm in my ZT190 though
Cheers,
Andy.

Personally I hate the place, but I appreciate that I'm in a minority!!
If you're taking the little one make sure you get some ear defenders that she'll wear, race cars are loud to little kids and I'm sure you wouldn't want to run the risk of damaging her hearing.
The racing should be good so go along and enjoy it!

I'd go to the Druid's hairpin, and ensure you're at the spot where you can see down the track to Paddock Hill, the corner eforehand. A lot of overtaking moves happen up the hill to Druid's, often set up by a good run through Paddock Hill bend, acknowledged to be one of the hardest corners to get right.
Thanks for the advice. I spent the day watching from various corners - Druids is a good 'un! I'm amazed how hilly tracks are compared with how they look on telly.
If anyone else are thinking about taking small children - do it, there were loads there (from carry cot size upwards). Only one decent baby changing in the toilets next to the Kentagon bar/restaurant.
Great day out, loads of races / action, very cheap for what you got.
Cheers,
Andy.
