Hi

My girlfriend and I am looking to go on a relaxing beach holiday package in the middle of October this year. It needs to be somewhere hot and where I don't have to move around too much as it will only be a few weeks after the pin is removed from my recently broken leg. We're obviously booking quite late but we can leave it later to try and reduce costs if that's a good idea. I'm hoping to spend £800-900 tops all-inclusive.

We were originally planning to go to Cuba but are looking elsewhere as we're worried about the damage caused by the hurricanes. Then we started looking at Turgutreis (near Bodrum) in Turkey but I'm worried it's going to be too cold.

Any (serious!) ideas very welcome!

roadie.

We've booked Sicily. £44 each return via RyanAir. Temps still mid to high 70s.

Stay at home and turn the heating up full blast? Oh hang on, that will cost more than £800-900!

Went to the Algarve last October and it was hot and sunny.

Not sure if it's like that every October though...

Thanks. What region did you go to as I believe the climate can vary substantially? We'd be looking at the South West tip (Agean Sea I believe).

Tenerife is hot that time of year (28deg ish). Go outside of school holidays (mid to end of october this year) and you can pick up cheap flights from the likes of monarch online, and cheap accomodation from somewhere like www.travelrepublic.co.uk

A year or so back I spent a week in tenerife in october, 3* apartment that could sleep up to 6 , all in for IIRC about £600. Add another person on (just cost of flight, apartment is same cost no matter how many people) and you come in probably around £800.

Could be substantially less if you opt for odd hours flight times - i paid a premium to fly during the day.

ok just checked, not as cheap as it used to be due to airport and fuel surcharge taxes. Mid October is no go, its school hols and prices are just stupid. But leave on 2-Nov, return on 9-Nov Monarch will do you a pair of return adult flights inc all taxes etc for £365. I just had a quick look apartments 3* start at £95 each for the week, so at those prices £555 all in for the week. You will probably want to pay for premium seats on monarch (more legroom) and you will want an apartment near the action to save walking so probably need to factor in another £100 each to do it in style.

ETA oops just noticed youwant all inclusive , you wont get that by self booking. Check out somewhere like www.eclipsedirect.co.uk - this is the direct arm of first choice - same places as first choice (but less choice) and much cheaper.

Having XL out of the sky won't help in your search for cheap short-medium haul stuff. They were quite a big charter carrier as well as holiday company.
