I dont know about that- the Nazi's managed to get elected, remember. If Labour die (likely) they'll be unelectable for a while, and if some really nasty scandal rocks the Tories during the hard times ahead, then shiny goody-good Lib Dems might be in with a shout.

Who would have thought twenty years ago that the SNP would be running a govnerment?

I listened to that speech in its entirety today on R5. It was quite surreal, the guy was just spouting contradictions and nonsense, illustrated by little case-study cameos.

I kept thinking that among those people in the audience, clapping, were our good friends from "the picture"... biggrin

Where is it? Somebody post it up!

The Liberals have been "preparing for government" for at least 35 years since I remember being even vaguely aware of party politics, they are pretty much in the same position now as they were back then.

Only if the other parties all emigrate, which in the current economic climate isn’t that farfetched.

What gets me is Clegg was talent spotted by Leon Brittan for the conservative party before he ever became a liberal democrat. Brittan thought he could have a great future with the conservatives.

Instead he chose to be the big fish in a liberal sized pond.

If Clegg gets into government it will either be as part of a coalition or he will have crossed the floor.

I agree, they are finally sharpening up their image and becoming media savvy. I was watching the conference highlights the other night and Vince Cable looked and sounded electable. The

They now run my borough in coalition with the Conservatives, which was a fairly safe Labour seat up until now.

I think the next term will almost certainly be Tory but if it's a bad one, which less face it is quite possible, then the Lib Dem's will catch a lot of the fallout from that too.

The man is clearly deluded about his Party's chances, but his speech did get some things right - about nu labia and Meltdown Brown:

I had a look back recently at Gordon Brown's final budget last year.

Can you believe it.

He actually boasted: "Our growth will be the highest in the G7".

"Inflation has never gone above 3%" he bragged.

Labour offers nothing.

They're so desperate to protect their own jobs, they can't be bothered to protect other people's.

They're the living dead, no heart, no mind, no soul.

Stumbling around with no idea what to do.

They are a zombie government.

A cross between Shaun of the Dead and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.

Not with the latest MORI poll you are not

Tories 52%
Labour 24%
Lib Dems 12%

Roughly translated to seats:
Tories 493 seats,
Labour 121
Lib Dems on 8 seats.rofl
