I have started to watched my computer more than my TV (iPlayer & the large amount of video media I have stored on the machine) and would like to switch this around as I spent a decent amount on my TV not so long ago and its becoming redundant.

The computer sites a good distance away from the TV and rather than using wires I would like to do this WiFi (if poss).

What options are there open to me?

I am running a PC and not a Mac

What sort of TV is it you have? LCD, plasma, CRT (older type of TV)

I wanted to do this also with my LCD. It works okay, but the only trouble I had was that I couldn't get the picture to fit the screen. Even when you go into the aspect ratio of the input it doesn't make a huge amount of difference, as you will still be looking at a smaller picture and the quality isn't as good.
If you really want to go for it (sorry can't rememer the name of the cable) then a half decent cable from computer to TV is about £20 and you will also need a RCA cable for sound. (I may be wrong but this is what worked for me before I gave up on the idea).

Move the computer.

Or do what I did and spend around £300-400 building a dedicated HTPC, I use it to play DVDs, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and any stuff that I download off the web, it also holds all my music and I can use it to surf the net if I want. All connected to a Full-HD TV. smile

Well my father (an Apple advocate) has been telling me to get an Mac mini and run it through the TV. To be fair its not a bad idea as they not that expensive for what they are but I am sure I could get a windows machine with a higher spec for less money

I've got my main PC plugged into our new 40" LCD Samsung from the next room via a hidden 15m VGA cable. The picture's perfect (as long as you don't buy the cheapest VGA cable you can find) and me and the gf both use it a lot for the same things as you. I've also set my old Creative 5.1 speaker system up permanently on the telly as I mainly only ever used them for vids anyway, and the Sammy panel's speakers are woeful.

I just found out about a thing called a "Popcorn Hour" that looks rather intriguing, particularly it's inbuilt usenet client to 'acquire' material.

To answer the OP's original query, some companies have been threatening to bring out this sort of kit but the sheer bandwidth of a video transmission means you're best off sticking to a wired connection for some time yet.

If your PC really is too far for a cable to reach, your only other option is to bring it closer to the TV or buy a dedicated media PC as mentioned earlier.

Buffalo Link Theatre, will do the trick.

Lets you play all your PC stored video on the TV.

I've got a Mac Mini just for this...Sits behind the TV, and I control it using the Apple remote. Front Row sucks in all my music and video from all over the network, through the wi-fi.

Got the bluetooth keyboard and mouse too, so can use both OSX and Windows on the TV. Works very well.
