Automotive/Motorsport Industrial Placement

I'm currently doing a Mechanical Engineering degree and as part of my course I have an 8 month Industrial Placement to do from January next year. Basically I would really like to get a placement that is in the Automotive or Motorsport area of engineering as its what I would ultimately like to get into.

So, basically I'm just looking for any suggestions as to the best companies to apply to. I already have quite a number of companies I am going to contact but if you could chip in with any suggestions it would be much appreciated as I would really like to get a placement in this sort of area of the industry.

I would particularly be interested in any suggestions from those who work for any companies in this field or who have previously had similar placements.

I should also add that the location is not an issue as I would be willing to go anywhere in the UK to get this sort of placement. Ideally I would have had applications sent off some time ago but due to personal circumstances this was not possible so all help is much appreciated.
