Gas bills and DD's

Got a letter from My gas suppler ths mornng, sayng they are gong to ncrease my monthly DD from £41 to £205 per month, this was doubly intersesting as 2 years ago I was £600 in credit.
I called them and told them I could cancel the DD faster than they could collect I also asked what's going on, and this is why I'm posting here.
BG now review accounts on a three month basis and not annually, this apparently is to stop people getting into debt, I am now apparently £165 in debt and because of this they have increased my estmate of usage to £2460 per year and will not reduce it until the account is in credit, I offered to pay the £165 but she said they can't do that, she reiterated that they no longer allow DD accounts to go into debt and they have to stay in credit.
I cancelled the DD and have put my gas back onto quarterly billing.
Thay have just found a new way of making money out of us, check your gas bills very carefully.
Oh and my usage has hardly changed over the last three years.
